Matthew S. Wolcott

Mr. Wolcott’s practice focuses primarily on complex upstream oil and gas litigation and transactional matters. He has litigated disputes among operators, working-interest owners, royalty owners, surface owners, and vendors, including contract claims, title disputes, and tort claims. Mr. Wolcott’s transactional experience includes the acquisition and divestiture of assets, negotiating and drafting leases, service contracts, participation agreements, farmout agreements, and joint operating agreements, and drafting title opinions. He is also an experienced intellectual property litigator.

Mr. Wolcott began his legal career as an associate at Freeman Mills from 2006 – 2011. He then served as in-house litigation counsel for XTO Energy Inc. from 2011 – 2016.

A published singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Mr. Wolcott is also a member of the National Music Publishers’ Association and an active advocate for creative rights owners.
