James J. Lesyna, Jr.

James’s energy practice focuses primarily on complex oil and gas title issues and M&A due diligence. He has advised a wide range of clients — from individual lessors to major producers — regarding matters involving asset acquisition and divestiture, regulatory compliance, lease negotiation, and land use issues. His extensive transaction experience includes the drafting of oil and gas title opinions, regulatory filings, purchase and sale agreements, oil and gas leases, joint operating agreements, and various curative instruments.

James acquired his initial experience in the energy industry as an independent field landman performing title research throughout Texas, from the Permian Basin to the Haynesville Shale and down into the Eagle Ford. He later diversified his skills as both a project lead and manager of a land services company in Fort Worth. Prior to joining the Firm, he held a general in-house position for a closely held domestic energy producer.
